The EC-121 Warning Star manufactured by Lockheed was a US Air Force/US Navy airborne early warning radar surveillance aircraft. A military version of the Lockheed Constellation, it was designed to serve as an airborne early warning system to supplement the Distant Early Warning Line, using two large radomes, a vertical dome above and a horizontal one below the fuselage. EC-121's were also used for intelligence gathering (SIGINT).

The prototype for the EC-121 was a model L049 Constellation, Lockheed serial number 1961-S, which was fitted with dummy radomes. The Navy subsequently received two working prototypes, designated PO-1W, which were re-designated WV-1s in 1954 and transferred to the Federal Aviation Agency in 1958-59.
