Model Airplane Factory offers handmade Bell UH-1 Huey model helicopter, artistically created by our master craftsmen. After carving the wood, the UH-1 Huey Iroquois helicopter display will undergo stages of fine sanding, between primer coats, to produce a silky smooth finish ready for final painting. The UH1 Huey Iroquois display model helicopter is meticulously carved and painted to reflect the true detail of the original Bell UH-1 Huey. The details of the UH1 Huey Iroquois such as the insignia, logos, body number, and squadron are carefully and artistically painted in the UH-1 Huey Iroquois helicopter model wooden display for precision. The process starts from carving the fuselage and the intakes on the fuselage sides to the UH-1 Huey Iroquois cruciform tail design, to the assembly and final polishing of the Bell UH-1 Huey model helicopter display wood.

The USAF asked Bell to develop a special version of the UH-1D in 1962 using the General Electric T-58 turboshaft as a powerplant (the same engine in the Sikorsky S-61 Sea King). This engine was capable of 1,250 hp (932 kW) compared to the UH-1D's 1,100 hp (820 kW) Lycoming T53-L11.

During the conflict, the craft was upgraded, notably to a larger version based on the Model 205. This version was initially designated the UH-1D and flew operationally from 1963. The UH-1D was the Initial Bell 205 production model (long fuselage version of the 204). Designed as a troop carrier to replace the CH-34 then in US Army service
