Model Airplane Factory offers you this elegant Enola Gay B29 display wooden bomber aircraft made from finest kiln-dried mahogany wood. Every part and detail of the Atomic B29 Enola aircraft wooden display is given equal attention to retain the actual specification of the B29 Enola Gay. The details of the Atomic B29 Enola such as the insignia, logos, body number, and squadron are carefully and artistically painted in the Atomic B29 Enola plane bomber wood display for precision. Enola Gay B29 display aircraft bomber is hand carved from solid mahogany and completely hand painted. The Enola Gay B29 plane display is meticulously carved and painted to reflect the true detail of the original Atomic B-29 Enola. Enola Gay B29 plane display bomber includes hand-made armaments to represent real weapon loads based on the original Atomic B29 Enola. The process starts from carving the fuselage and the intakes on the fuselage sides to the Atomic B29 Enola cruciform tail design, to the assembly and final polishing of the B29 Enola Gay display wood aircraft. The B29 Enola Gay bomber aircraft is supplied with a mahogany base for display.
Enola Gay was assigned to the USAAF's 393rd Bomb Squadron, 509th Composite Group and flew the August 6 mission out of Tinian, a large island with several USAAF bases in the Mariana Islands chain. The plane was one of 15 B-29s with the final "Silverplate" modifications necessary to deliver nuclear bombs. Enola Gay was assembled by the Glenn L. Martin Company at its Omaha, Nebraska, plant at what is now Offutt Air Force Base and personally selected by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets, Jr., commander of the 509th Composite Group, on May 9, 1945 while still on the assembly line as the B-29 he would use to fly the atomic bomb mission.
