Model Airplane Factory offers handmade Stearman PT-17 Kaydet airplane display model, artistically created by our master craftsmen. PT17 Kaydet model airplane display is hand carved from solid mahogany and completely hand painted. Multiple coats of clear lacquer is applied in Stearman PT17 display airplane wood to protect the exquisite artwork and provide an overall glossy finish. The details of the Stearman PT-17 such as the insignia, logos, body number, and squadron are carefully and artistically painted in the Stearman PT-17 Kaydet aircraft wood model display for precision. After carving the wood, the Stearman PT-17 display plane will undergo stages of fine sanding, between primer coats, to produce a silky smooth finish ready for final painting. From raw kiln-dried mahogany wood, it undergoes processes to accomplish a precise PT17 Kaydet wood model display; from carving, sanding, coating, painting and detailing to a creatively done wooden replica of the Stearman PT-17.

Defined as one of the most recognizable WWII trainer ever built, the PT-17 Stearman "Kaydet" flies on into the 21st Centry. Designed originally as the Model 70 by Lloyd Stearman, the design was adopted by Boeing after it bought the Stearman Co. The Kaydet trained many of the aviators of WWII in their early days as pilots and soldered on after WWII as popular recreational and agricultural aircraft. The Stearman PT-17, nicknamed "Kaydet", was the most widely used primary trainer of the Allied air forces in World War II. Not only did this two-place biplane serve as a flying classroom for countless Allied pilots, but it also closed a chapter in American aviation by being the last military production biplane built in the United States. Lloyd C. Stearman, founder of the Stearman Aircraft Co., in Venice, California, Jack Clark and Harold Zipp designed the Stearman model 75 “Kaydet” in 1926 (The prototype of the Kaydet, model 70 was designed in 1933 from the model 6 Cloudboy which Lloyd Stearman designed).
