Model Airplane Factory offers handmade Lockheed C5 Galaxy Transport Wood Model Airplane (E-1), artistically created from the finest grade of kiln-dried Mahogany wood. After carving the wood, the C-5 Galaxy wooden model airplane will undergo stages of fine sanding, between primer coats, to produce a silky smooth finish ready for final painting. The C5A Galaxy model airplane will be painted according to the specific color scheme of the Lockeed C-5A/B Galaxy aircraft for their historical significance and authenticity.


The C-5 Galaxy (E1), with its tremendous payload capability, provides the Air Mobility Command (AMC) inter theater airlift in support of United States national defense. The C-5 and the C-17 Globemaster III are partners in AMC's strategic airlift concept. The aircraft can carry fully equipped combat-ready military units (including main battle tanks) to any point in the world on short notice, then provide the field support required to help sustain the fighting force. Using the front and rear cargo openings, the Galaxy can be loaded and off-loaded at the same time. Both nose and rear doors open the full width and height of the cargo compartment, allowing drive-through loading and unloading of wheeled and tracked vehicles, and faster, easier loading of bulky equipment. A "kneeling" landing gear system lowers the aircraft's cargo floor to truck-bed height. The entire cargo floor has a roller system for rapid handling of palletized equipment. Thirty-six fully loaded pallets can be loaded aboard in about 90 minutes.
