Each Blue Angels model airplane is painted accordingly from the fuselage and wings to the gray detailed canopies and detail-painted insignias and markings. This collection of Blue Angels is certainly one set of 8 mahogany made airplane models, with 36 inches wooden base, each airplane model are individually mounted.

The Blue Angels is officially known as the United States Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron (US Navy), shortly after World War II when the team was created. On the 24th of April 1946 when the Blue Angels an unnamed team then performed its first flight demonstration on June 15 of the same year, equipped with Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat then. On July of 1946, the name Blue Lancers was assigned to the team but it was never accepted, but on July 19th, Lt. Commander Voris announced Blue Angels as the official name of the team. Two months after the first demonstration of the Blue Angels team with F-6F-5 Hellcats the team transitioned to Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat, on August 24 of 1946 the Bearcat flew for their initial demonstration. On 1949 the Bearcat flew for their transition to jet and accepted brand new Grumman F9F-2 Panthers in July; F8F-1 Bearcats team then became acquainted with F9F-2 Panther then between demonstrations. The Blue Angels’ last demonstration with the Bearcats was on the 14th of August.

In 1950 the first full season of the Panther was the outbreak of hostilities in Korea in June that caused the blue Angels team to be ordered back in the operational fleet in July 20. The United States Naval (USN) Flight Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels’ F9F-2Bs Panther flew combat missions over Korean peninsula from the deck of the USS Princeton. The Cougar F9F-8 with swept-wings of Grumman was essentially a variant of the Panther. In 1957, Grumman’s supersonic F11F was a stronger airplane compared to the F9F-8. The power of the F11F Tiger allowed the Blue Angels’ show become more vertical than horizontal and be able to remain in the area of the airfield. In 1969 as the Blue Angels team looks for a replacement for the aging F11F United States was deeply involved in the Vietnam War then. The F-4J Phantom II was originally designed for the Navy and it was the Navy which had first deployed it. In later years the Phantom II F4J had various tragic accidents and the energy crisis caused the reminder of the Blue Angels’ 1973 season to be cancelled and the F-4J Phantom was then abandoned in the Blue Angels team. The F4J Phantom was replaced with McDonnell Douglas A-4F Skyhawk. The Blue Angels began flying the A-4F Skyhawk in 1954 while it was still in production. The A4 Skyhawk was simply the only remaining fleet plane that would work for the Blue Angels, because apparently the Skyhawk was not the first choice or even the second choice of the Blue Angels team, however in 1974 they had first requested for F-14 and A-7 but both requests were denied. The F/A-18A Hornet is the present fleet in the Blue Angels team; the Hornet first flew in 1978. The Hornet F/A-18 was perfect for demonstration team work and allowed the Angels to include new maneuvers in their routine. The F/A-18 Hornet has the longest service record with the Blue Angels team and one of the best safety records.
