Model Airplane Factory, makers of hand made model aircraft, presents to you our B-17G Silver aircraft mahogany. The process starts from carving the fuselage and the intakes on the fuselage sides to the B17 Fortress Silver cruciform tail design, to the assembly and final polishing of the B17 Fortress Silver model display mahogany. After carving the wood, the B-17 Flying Fortress Silver model mahogany display will undergo stages of fine sanding, between primer coats, to produce a silky smooth finish ready for final painting. B-17 Fortress Silver mahogany display model bomber is hand carved from solid mahogany and completely hand painted. From raw kiln-dried mahogany wood, it undergoes processes to accomplish a precise B17 Fortress Silver model airplane display; from carving, sanding, coating, painting and detailing to a creatively done wooden replica of the B-17 Fortress Silver.

The B-17G was the result of an almost continuous improvement program of earlier B-17 models. The G model was basically the production version of the B-17F after the modifications and improvements were incorporated into the design. Although the Bendix chin turret is the most obvious improvement incorporated into the B-17G, it was actually first used on late model B-17Fs. More than 8,500 Gs were built by three different manufacturers: Boeing, Douglas and Lockheed-Vega. More than 12,500 B-17s of all types were built before production ended.
