Our A-26 Invader model airplane is a beautiful, handmade authentic replica, made from the very finest grade of select kiln-dried mahogany wood and painstakingly decorated by our skilled craftsmen.
A26 Invader light attack bomber model showcases the exact markings of the actual A-26 Invader Douglas aircraft and has a wingspan of 19.1 inches, fuselage length of 13.9 inches. The A-26 Invader Solid Nose model airplane is made to recognized collector 1/44 scale for enhanced value. After passing through several stages of sanding and priming, our talented artists paint and detail the A-26 Invader model airplane with historically correct markings of the A-26 Invader aircraft.

The Douglas A26 Invader Attack Bomber Wood Model Airplane is supplied with a mahogany base for display. <br><br><br> A-26 Invader Attack Bomber is a propeller powered aircraft used by US Air Force during World War II (WWII). The A-26 Invader aircraft was manufactured by Douglas.The Douglas A-26/B-26 bomber was the only American bomber to fly missions in three wars. After World War II, it served as a first-line bomber during the Korean War and during the Vietnam War. Douglas started the A-26 in 1941 to follow the A-20/DB-7 Havoc bomber.<br><br> Douglas built 2,503 A-26/B-26 Invaders. During production a number of modifications were progressively introduced so that by 1948, the A-26 was one of the few wartime aircraft types still in service with the post-war U.S. Air Force. When the famous Martin B-26 Marauder retired and the Air Force deleted the designation "A" (for attack category), the Douglas Invader took on the B-26 designation. The A-26B Invader had a solid nose, which normally housed six or eight .50 caliber machine guns. The Douglas company began delivering the production model A-26B in August 1943. Douglas Invaders began arriving in England in September 1944 for assignment to the 9th Air Force and entered combat two months later on Nov. 19. Invaders appeared in the Pacific Theater in January 1945 and proved to be highly effective during the remaining months of the war. It is believed by some to have been one of the finest aircraft developed in World War II.<br><br> The A-26 was originally built in two different configurations: the A-26B had a solid nose, which normally housed six or eight .50 caliber machine guns, while the A-26C’s glass nose contained a Norden bombsight and was used for medium altitude precision bombing. Some aircraft were armed with additional guns in their wings, giving some configurations as many as fourteen .50 caliber machine guns fixed forward.<br><br></div> <!--eof Product description --> <br
