Model Airplane Factory offers you this elegant Convair 990 Coronado model plane made from mahogany wood. Every 990 American Airlines is a work of art. From raw kiln-dried mahogany wood, it undergoes processes to accomplish a precise replica; from carving, sanding, coating, painting and detailing to a creatively done wooden replica of the actual aircraft. Every part and detail of the Coronado 990model airplane is given equal attention to retain the actual specification of the aircraft.

Early versions of the 990 did not meet the specifications promised American Airlines, who reduced their order as a result. The modified 990A was a engineered solution to speed related shortfalls, though the aircraft never did live up to its promise of coast to coast non stop capability westbound from JFK to LAX. American began to dispose of its 990A's in 1967, having found the 707 and 720 more suited to its routes.
